Manifesto of Fashion as Resistance
Manifesto of Fashion as Resistance is a large-format book, authored by Carla Fernández. At the same time that it is an ideological manifesto that reflects her positions on fashion, design, creation and production of garments, it is a document that records his work over the years.
It is an art book, with more than 200 photographs, where we can find Carla’s collaborations, inspirations, the Mexican roots of her work, and the current struggles of feminism; at the same time, it is a photographic essay on the evolution of the designer as an artist who finds a language, without the need for protagonism.
The visual art of Manifesto of Fashion as Resistance has the participation of several photographic visions, among which those of Maruch Santíz Gómez, Cecy Young, Mark Powell, Ana Hop, Maya Goded, among others. This book is a testimony of Carla Fernández’ work and its impact on the fashion and design scene in Mexico and in turn in the world, as well as the different catwalks and exhibitions, such as those at the Jumex Museum, in Mexico City, and the one mounted in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, England.
In addition to what is contained in the Manifesto, the physical book is a proposal for editorial art, where the artistic vision of Carla Fernández is combined with the proficiency of Maricris Herrera as designer.
With this book, the Mexican designer inherits to the world of fashion and the general public, her way of seeing the world and the way she is changing it.
