In recent decades, the effects of solar storms showed the importance of studies on space weather. Their disturbances are irregular conditions that represent danger for both space-based and ground-based technological systems. An extreme space weather event can severely impact a country or regional technological infrastructure and critical services, affecting activities and processes essential for everyday life of society. Сonsequently, space weather events are the issue of international importance and national security since they can affect satellites, global positioning and navigation systems, communications, transportation, energy transmission and distribution networks.

This Guide to Space Weather Recommendations in Mexico aims to make visible the study and understanding of solar phenomena in our country and thereby contribute to the development of a series of methodological instruments whose purpose is to reduce the risk of disaster linked to extreme events caused by the space weather, contributing to the increase on resilience in Mexico in the face of their possible occurrence.
