Reseña

This book, product of the talent, work and effort of professors and researchers from the School of Business, both undergraduate and EGADE Business School, and from the School of Social Sciences and Government, undergraduate and the School of Government and Public Transformation, addresses different dimensions of the phenomenon called nearshoring, with the purpose of providing readers with a detailed analysis of the past, present and a vision of the future of globalization, as well as the geopolitical context of nearshoring and what this represents for Mexico. It identifies the strengths, as well as the main challenges that we must face as a country to capitalize on the opportunities that are and will be presented by the accelerated flow of foreign direct investment, derived from the process of relocation of production centers to Mexico. The book analyzes the legal framework that USMCA represents, in general, and its Chapter 20 on intellectual property, as well as an analysis of the potential of Mexican states to attract foreign direct investment, due to nearshoring, in certain sectors and sub-sectors. The book presents an overview of the investment potential in Mexico for entrepreneurial capital, as well as an analysis of the contribution of multinational companies to the scientific and technological capabilities of Mexico’s innovation system, a fundamental aspect in the configuration of global value chains. The book also evaluates Mexico’s institutional conditions for their decisive role in attracting foreign direct investment. The book also presents an analysis of Mexico’s logistics capabilities, as well as an assessment of the state of the country’s electricity sector in the face of the imminent wave of new investments resulting from nearshoring. The book ends with the identification of some criteria for making decisions on talent management policies and practices to overcome the challenges posed by nearshoring, in a holistic manner and aligned with public policies that promote progress within the social order and welfare.
